Natixis has announced that global head of metals trading and former LBMA chairman David Gornall has retired after 30 years with the company, it said in a statement on Thursday.
David began his career trading copper at the LME, before moving into base and precious metals marketing. He subsequently specialised in precious metals becoming chairman of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) in 2011.
“[David] has overseen Natixis development into one of the largest players in the supply of physical gold to India, as well as the Bank’s fourth-consecutive year as a recipient (bronze award) of TFR magazine’s ‘Best Trade Bank in Metals and Mining,’” Natixis said in a note.
“After 30 successful years at Natixis, we’d like to congratulate David Gornall on his well-deserved retirement,” it added.
Grant Angwin of Asahi Refining USA took over as LBMA chairman in 2014.
